The Shield TV Pro is the only consumer streaming device with a Tegra X1+ chip running NVIDIA's AI Enhancer, a deep-learning model that upscales 720p and 1080p video to 4K in real time. The difference on older Netflix shows, YouTube content, and streaming sports is immediately visible: sharper edges, less compression noise, more natural detail. Beyond upscaling, it runs full Android TV with the Google Play Store, supports Dolby Vision and Atmos, plays nearly every codec via Plex/Kodi, and doubles as a SmartThings home hub. GeForce NOW cloud gaming streams at up to 120fps and 4K HDR, a console-quality experience without owning a console. Released in 2019 and still receiving updates in 2026, a remarkably long product life that makes the $199 price feel like a bargain.
