Repeatable Prompt Design: Structure, Test, and Review

Design prompts as testable specifications and improve them using examples, constraints, and human review.

Looking for step-by-step tutorials for individual AI tools?

Course overview

Treat a prompt as one component of a larger application rather than a magic phrase. Learners define task, context, constraints, output format, and checks; compare prompt revisions against stable examples; and evaluate whether a proposed prompt-writing tool actually improves results. The course does not endorse claims in any video title or promise that a particular template will work across models. Its original assignments emphasize repeatability, evidence, privacy, and human judgment.

Translate a user need into a prompt specification with context, constraints, and a reviewable output. Compare prompt revisions with a fixed set of representative and adversarial examples. Evaluate prompt-writing aids and model outputs without treating fluency or a vendor claim as proof of quality.

Experience using a conversational generative AI system and writing clear task instructions is recommended. Programming is not required. Use invented or public material, do not include confidential data, and independently verify factual or high-impact output.
