Study the transition from a single response to a multi-step agent workflow. Learners map planning, tool calls, and handoffs; compare implementation approaches; and set boundaries for actions that could affect people, data, or external systems. The course's original assignments use fictional scenarios and make approval, logging, and failure recovery explicit.
Represent an agent task as a sequence of observable steps, tool permissions, and stop conditions. Identify where tool output needs independent validation before an agent proceeds. Design human approval, logging, and recovery controls proportionate to an agent's possible impact.
Basic familiarity with chat-based generative AI is recommended. Coding is not required to complete the workflow-mapping assignments. Use fictional tasks and never grant an agent access to real accounts, private data, or consequential actions for practice.
